RR Innings: Jaiswal and Samson Set The Pace.
The Rajasthan Royals started their innings full of energy and ended up scoring 205/4 in 20 overs. The innings was partly made by phenomenal 67 off 45 ball innings by Yashasvi Jaiswal who striked 3 fours and 5 sikes at a strike rate of 148.86. Captain Sanju Samson also contributed with a quick fire 38 off 26 balls with 6 fours leading them to an impressive 89 run partnership at the start.Samson fell in the 10.2nd over, caught by Shreyas Iyer off Lockie Ferguson, but Jaiswal kept the momentum going, adding 34 runs with Riyan Parag. Shimron Hetmyer scored 20 runs off 12 balls (2 fours, and 1 six) helping RR cross the 200 run mark, and Dhruv Jurel contributed 13 not-out off 5 balls (1 four, 1 six) to the total.
It was a struggling day out for PBKS’s bowlers as they could not contain the run rate. Ferguson was the best of the bad bunch, taking 2/37 in 4 overs. Also grabbed wickets but at costly rates were Arshdeep Singh (1/35) and Marco Jansen (1/45). With 48 runs leaked in 4 overs without taking a wicket, Marcus Stoinis highlighted the contesting team’s bowling problems.
PBKS Innings: Archer’s Brilliance Shines While Wadhera Fights
When chasing a target of 206, PBKS suffered drastic collapse due to a very hot opening spell by Jofra Archer. Priyansh Arya was dismissed for a golden duck off the very first ball while Shreyas Iyer scored a brisk 10, getting out in the very first over to Archer as well. Stoinis (1 off 7) and Prabhsimran Singh (17 off 16) couldn’t steady the ship and PBKS were languishing at 43/4 in the 6.2 over.
Nehal Wadhera with Glenn Maxwell revived the middle order in quite a spirited fashion, at one point putting on an 88-run seventh-wicket partnership. Wadhera became the top score making 62 off 41 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes), Maxwell managed to score 30 off 21 (3 fours, 1 six) only after their dismissals, in the 14.6 over Maxwell to Maheesh Theekshana and 15.1 over Wadhera to Wanindu Hasaranga, which triggered another collapse. The lower order collapse came in the form of Suryansh Shedge (2), Marco Jansen (3), and Arshdeep Singh (1) on going out cheaply. Shashank Singh managed to remain not out on 10 off 13 while Lockie Ferguson scored 4 off 1 ball, brought the innings total to 155/9.
Jofra Archer decimated the opposition as he was named Man of the Match after taking 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Sandeep Sharma with 2 wickets for 21 runs and Maheesh Theekshana with 2 for 26 also bowled exceptionally well. Kumar Kartikeya Singh and Wanindu Hasaranga contributed one wicket each.

FFerguson was loosung runs with only 2/37 to his name.
PBKS had an absolute ‘mare when it came to chasing down the 206 runs, crumbling down to an embarrassing 43/4 thanks to Jofra Archer’s 3/25. There was some resistance offered by Nehal Wadhera who scored 62 and paired with Glenn Maxwell who also lost his wicket with 30 forming an 88-run partnership. The RR bowlers began putting the pressure on and took control of the match; Sandeep Sharma had 2/21 and Maheesh Theekshana had 2/26 which meant PBKS were finished with 155/9 in the bank. The win can largely be attributed to the pace Archer and the teams controlled aggression.

Rajasthan Royals achieved an impressive all-around performance by defeating Punjab Kings by 50 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dominating knock set the tone for a challenging 205/4, which Jofra Archer’s destructive opening spell ensured PBKS never recovered from. Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell put forth a good fight, but PBKS’s top-order batting weaknesses were brutally revealed. RR’s statement IPL 2025 performance strengthens their position as contenders, whereas PBKS will need to rethink their approach after suffering their first loss of the season.
